BIOGRAPHY
COLLEEN PILKEY, BSW, RSW
ACSW#9269 SASW#1481 PRAC. ID#2666-87208 (AB)
Colleen started her adult years marrying a farmer and gaining life experience. She then went to university with her 3 children in tow (ages 8, 5, and 2), gaining even more valuable experience. In University, Colleen excelled academically and was actively involved in the community. She was nominated for the President’s Medal upon convocation.
Colleen’s social work career began in 2001 in Child Protection. By 2003, she was working as a Mental Health Therapist in the Child & Youth Program for Mental Health and Addiction Services in Lloydminster SK.
In 2005, Colleen began Self Regulation Therapy training with The Canadian Foundation for Trauma Research and Education. Colleen took the training because she wanted to work on her own trauma, as well as to resolve it for her clients.
Many of the psychologists that Colleen trained with also participated in a “book club,” in which they studied neurobiological literature (Porges, Schore, Scaer, Perry, Rothschild, and Levine). The study group helped solidify Colleen’s learning and built collegial support.
Colleen left Lloydminster Mental Health & Addiction Services in 2009 and started working for Mental Health & Addiction Services in Moose Jaw SK. She worked there for 3 years with a mixed caseload of all ages including Addiction clients. She also ran various groups and was on the Centralized Intake Team.
Colleen then returned to the Lloydminster area and found a permanent position at the Vermilion Mental Health Clinic in the Adult Program. She ran some groups and gained more experience and successes in using Self Regulation Therapy.
She is the only therapist doing SRT between Edmonton and Saskatoon. She looks forward to assisting you or your loved ones in returning to your former, regulated selves!
